4。5 stars。 A HUGE thank-you to Main Street Books in St。 Charles for gifting me an ARC of this book！ I'll update this to a review with spoilers after the book is released。Part of me is sad it's over。 （As of now， I think this is the final installment？） And part of me is really， really happy Jaron is getting a break。 （Though if he decides he wants to come back for more， I'll be there， no question。） That guy had already been through so much for Carthya， and it doesn't stop in The Shattered Castle。 J 4。5 stars。 A HUGE thank-you to Main Street Books in St。 Charles for gifting me an ARC of this book！ I'll update this to a review with spoilers after the book is released。Part of me is sad it's over。 （As of now， I think this is the final installment？） And part of me is really， really happy Jaron is getting a break。 （Though if he decides he wants to come back for more， I'll be there， no question。） That guy had already been through so much for Carthya， and it doesn't stop in The Shattered Castle。 Jennifer Nielsen sends us on a wild adventure within the walls of Jaron's own castle， an adventure even tighter than in The Captive Kingdom。 While one of my favorite comedic moments remains in the fourth installment， Jaron's snark was on-point throughout the entire fifth book， drawing many， many laughs from me as I went through it， even more than the fourth one。 Along with Jaron， we spend time with many old faces， and come to love and hate a few new ones who are brought beautifully into the narrative。 I am once again so happy to have followed this boy through his chaotic decisions and risks， holding my breath as he jumped into the dark and waited to see where he landed。。。and what he would do next。 。。。more

A glorious continuation of the series that began with The False Prince。 Jaron is everything you want him to be in this book。 Imogene， Tobias， Fink， and the others also come through as expected。 Lots of loose ends are tied up。 It is super important to read the series in order， or you will miss a great deal。 Highly recommended for fans of the series， or readers looking for a new series to binge。 For grades 4 & up。eARC provided by publisher via Edelweiss
